On September 9 and 10, Silicon is organizing two days of web conferences to share best practices on the digitalized workspace and debate new issues at a time when COVID-19 requires us to reinvent business organization. Switching your organization to a full teleworking mode overnight was not planned in (almost) any business continuity plan.
And yet, in mid-March, a large majority of French companies had to switch to remote working to cope with confinement. The IT department is one of many concerned with the implementation of a digital workplace, even if different technologies are at the heart of the digitalized and unified workspace, which allows employees to collaborate remotely.
Systemic, such a project includes HR, organizational), financial, and even real estate components if we consider the reduction in square meters resulting from the increased use of teleworking. So, who is really driving the digital workplace, what are the essential technologies, and how can we restore good practices? Workplace Paris is launching the debate on the governance of the digital workspace during two days of web conferences on September 9 and 10.
Digital Workplace: A Challenge At The Heart Of Digital Transformation
Benoit Serre, Deputy National Vice-President of the National Association of HR Directors and Partner HR & People Strategy at the Boston Consulting Group, will explain on September 9 how the Digital Workplace is the engine of digital transformation and involves negotiation with all stakeholders—the company.
On September 10, Geraldine Segond, partner at Deloitte, will present a study on HR issues and the organizational challenges of the digital workplace. A vision shared by André Wei, CIO of Chantelle, who will recount his different experiences and defend a conviction: the necessary collaboration between CIO and HRD.
Collaborative Tools, Network, And Cybersecurity
One of the first technical challenges for the IT department during this period of confinement was the sizing of the network. Some organizations have set up, often hastily, a secure tunnel (VPN) to offer remote access to the corporate network to all teleworkers. For Christophe Le Caignec, IT manager for Lefebvre-Sarrut editions, who will demonstrate how he deployed a multi-site network, this dimensioning is at the heart of Digital Workplace strategies. For his part, Gabriel
Chenevoy, Operational Excellence Director at S NCF, will testify about the installation of the largest WiFi project in France, making it possible to connect the different workspaces of the railway group, stations, and trains indiscriminately. Others rushed to innovative solutions in SaaS mode. During March, in the space of a week, the number of daily active users of Microsoft Teams increased from 32 to 44 million, now exceeding the mark of 75 million members worldwide. Facebook Workplace and Slack also “benefited” from the health context, claiming 5 million and 12.5 million users, respectively.
Christine Debray, director of digital transformation, will testify on the use of collaborative tools within the Ministry of Culture and their ability to accelerate changes in work processes. As for Antony Hié, CIO and CDO of the ESCP group, he will testify to the accelerating effect of COVID-19 on his project and his vision of the Digital Workplace. Several approaches coexist; Martine Gouriet, Director of Digital Uses EDF, Vincent Mandinaud, ANACT project manager, and Sylvain Suc, Digital Workplace BPCE project director, will share their feedback.
Unified Communications At The Heart Of The System
What are the effects of unified communications on the Digital Workplace? Often presented as the heart of the project, this brick promises greater flexibility and efficiency in internal and external exchanges.
